A Good Lawyer Can Make All The Difference In Criminal Cases

If there is anything that someone accused of a crime should know it's the importance of securing a good lawyer immediately. A good lawyer can make sure that your arrest was conducted properly.  Any discrepancy in police procedures, arrests, or search and seizure may cause a case to be thrown out. Even if the accused has already confessed, a good lawyer can achieve a settlement that reduces the punishment and helps avoid jail time.

In his Annapolis, Maryland-based criminal defense practice, Attorney Thomas F. Ellis defends people accused of:

  • Drunk Driving: Including charges of Driving under the Influence (DUI), Driving while Intoxicated (DWI), Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Violations, and Revoked or Suspended Drivers License Violations.
  • Trucking Violations: Log Violations, Weight Violations, and other common trucking violations.
  • Traffic Violations: Out-of-State Speeding Tickets, Reckless Driving and more serious traffic violations.
  • Juvenile Offenses: Juvenile Delinquency and other common juvenile offenses.
Felonies and Misdemeanors: Assault and Battery, Theft, and other charges.
Drug Charges: Crack Cocaine, Controlled Dangerous Substances, Possession or Sale, and related charges.

It is often common for lawyers to charge higher fees to handle a client's 2nd, 3rd or 4th offense, but we don't believe in doing that. Our policy on fees doesn't change: always free initial consultations, always fees contingent on the case's outcome. This way, we can help the deserving people who really need help.

If you or a loved one is facing drug charges or another serious offense, you obviously know the stakes are high. And if you are a trucker facing enormous fines of thousands of dollars, you know that you need that a lawyer such as Tom Ellis who is experienced in getting such fines reduced. And of course, with the Maryland courts cracking down even harder on DWI / DUI offenses, it is more vital than ever for drunk driving defendants to get a lawyer, or risk facing long jail sentences and the loss of their license.

But if your charges are for a mere traffic offense, you might be wondering if it's really worth it to hire a lawyer. You should know that even minor traffic offenses can carry not only heavy fines, but could also cause you to lose driving record points. If you lose enough points, your driver's license can be revoked or suspended.

A good, experienced attorney can prevent this from happening. Often an attorney simply pleads a client's case before an administrative law judge at a motor vehicle administration hearing to get the client off entirely. Sometimes the arresting officers don't even show up to these proceedings. In his 30 years of experience, Tom Ellis has seen it all, and can use that experience to your benefit.
